This very special event was held on 24th October 2022 with some close friends of Jyoshinmon New Zealand who were able to attend - Leo Donnelly, Simon Merrick and Junichi Mishimura.
Our students of all grades gave a demonstration of Jyoshinmon Katas including enpi happo which is a kata designed for females and gave our ladies the opportunity to wear their hakama, which is black traditional trousers worn over a gi.
Soke visited our Dojos which was a treat for all our students to train with our Japanese friends. There was also Bo practice for the Dan grades by Taeko Shihan.
Congratulations to those who graded for Dan level and to our new Senseis who reached Sandan:
Sensei Zak Bennett
Sensei Sevita Sabine
Sensei Bruce Sabine
Sensei Ross Sabine
Sensei Jose Castillo
The 2-day celebration was meant to be held in the previous year but had to be postponed due to COVID and travel restrictions. This festival ended with a Sayonara party where awards were presented and gifts exchanged.
We look forward to celebrating the 55th Anniversary of Jyoshinmon in Japan in 2024!
