As a team representing Jyoshinmon New Zealand, we flew to Kagoshima in Japan to celebrate 50 years of Jyoshinmon Shori-Ryu.
We visited the birthplace of Ikeda Hoshu - Founder of Jyoshimon Shorin-Ryu Karate-Do for the unveiling of the commemorative monument in his honour at the Ikeda Dojo. Afterwards the team went to the Welcome Party and mingled with the Jyoshinmon teams from other countries.
The 50th Jyoshinmon Anniversary was a 2-day festival event from 25th-26th August 2019, with a tournament and demonstrations for basics, enpi happo (see photo below) and weapons.
Congratulations to our members who competed!
