JYOSHINMON SHORIN-RYU

At the last tournament of the Karate Auckland calendar, our 20 Jyoshinmon team members did very well at the Auckland Primary & Intermediate Schools Karate Championships, which was organised by Karate Auckland. For some of our students, this was their first tournament and their efforts made the club proud.

With students from all 3 of the Jyoshinmon dojos, Sensei Chante Betham of Onehunga dojo joined Shihan David Bennett, Sensei Beaty Bennett and Sensei Chris Bennett to coach our team.

Sensei Jason Ng as the new Chairperson of Karate Auckland, he presented the championships for the first time. He also participated as a National Referee and Judge for Karate New Zealand for both Kata and Kumite events.

Our Jyoshinmon black belts assisted with coaching our young competitors - Senpai Sevita Laufoli, Senpai Bruce Laufoli, Senpai Ross Laufoli, and Senpai Jose Castillo. Senpai Zak Scott and Senpai Jojina Scott assisted as Table Officials, along with Sian Scott.
