Fantastic training thanks to Shihan David Bennett, Sensei Chris Bennett, Sensei Chante Betham, Sensei Jason Ng and Sensei Beaty Bennett who organised the event at the New Lynn dojo.
Starting with Black Belt training incorporating Kata training, with Yara Kunshanku, and Bo training - with Kirby Wotherspoon, Zak Scott, Mexha Sane, Sevita Sabine and Jojina Scott.
This was followed by tournament training in both Kata and Kumite led by Sensei Chris, to benefit students who have little tournament experience. After a short break, a Kata tournament was held with blacks belt demonstrating correct procedure for entering and leaving the mat area.
Sensei Jason who is a Karate New Zealand Referee in both Kata and Kumite, led the Referee training to improve the judging skills for Jose Castillo and Jojina who intend to become Referees.
Kind contributions from the parents for lunch plus a special Thank You to Juan Castillo for being a tournament Marshall, and to Wendy Hinemoana Kearns for baking a great cake with karate-figure cookies! Also thank you to Jane, Bruce and Ross Sabine for taking most of the photos for the gallery.
The next Interclub Day will be Saturday 23rd August at the Manurewa dojo. Hope you can all make it as it's always good to have the Jyoshinmon dojos train together!
