NewsWe have two Grading`s a year for our members in New Zealand - the first one is usually held around May at New Lynn dojo and the second in October/November at Manurewa dojo.
The first grading is limited to Green Belt and below, while the second grading includes Brown and Black Belts.
We had about 50 students graded in November this year. The majority were going for the lower grades with about five members for 2nd Kyu Brown Belt and three boys for Black Belt Shodan - Bruce and Ross Sabine (both 14 years old), and Harry Ng (14 years old) - all of whom have been training for 8 years.
All the dojos had outstanding students with a number of the very young new students who were quite amazing. Overall the standard was very good.
Like most clubs these boys get quite a hard time especially from the Black Belt girls for some reason - Lana (18 years old), Mexha (15 years old) and Sevita (16 years old) who seemed to really want her two younger brothers (Bruce and Ross) to show how much they could take and still stay on their feet. All three boys are a great advertisement for the club. Well done!
Most of our current Black Belts attended with the younger Black Belts organizing, instructing and fighting those grading for 2nd Kyu Brown Belt and higher. Thank you - Zak Scott, Mexha Sane, Sevita Sabine, Jojina Scott, Jose Castillo (who graded in Japan last September) and Lana Crichton (who is entering Police College in February 2015).
Also thanks to the Senior Black Belts who made up the grading panel - Senseis Beaty Bennett, Chris Bennett, Chante Betham and Jason Ng.
