Great results for our 10 Jyoshinmon team members at the New Zealand Karate Open Championships!
This 2-day international event was held in Christchurch at the Pioneer Stadium, which was organised by the Canterbury Westland region of Karate New Zealand. The Director of the Japanese Consulate also gave a short welcoming speech, as Karate is included in the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.
Shihan David Bennett, Sensei Beaty Bennett, Sensei Chris Bennett and Sensei Chante Betham coached our team. Sensei Chris also provided technical support for the Sportdata tournament entries and results.
Sensei Jason Ng participated as one of the National Referees and Judges in both Kata and Kumite. This time Senpai Jojina Scott assisted as a Table Official and provided training for Sportdata entry to new volunteers.
The parents were very encouraging (and wonderfully vocal) with their support of the whole team as each member competed.
