Shihan David Bennett has just returned from Japan. The purpose of the visit was to attend the accession ceremony of Ai Ikeda.
Hoshu Ikeda the founder of Jyoshinmon Karate has stepped down as head of Jyoshinmon, but will remain as founder (Soke). Ai Ikeda his daughter has succeeded him as the new leader - Soshihan of Jyoshinmon Shorin-Ryu Karate-Do.
While in Japan, Shihan was awarded 5th Dan Black Belt at an international grading ceremony by Hoshu Ikeda. Unlike other karate styles, Jyoshinmon Dan grades reach up to 6 levels.
