Unfortunately Senpai Sian Scott is still undergoing major rehabilitation for her knee reconstructive surgery, so she is unable to defend her title for the Senior Womens -55kg division.
Senpai Zak Scott only started competing again last month (March) after an absence of 18 months. He spent last year recovering from painful reactive arthritis. So it was very encouraging that the Karate New Zealand Selection Committee still considered Zak for selection in the Senior Male Kata at Oceania. Thanks to the training efforts of Sensei Chris Bennett and rehabilitation programme by his sister Senpai Sian. Zak was then selected for Kumite -60kg category, so we wish him all the best!
All the weekly squad training sessions by Sensei Chris Bennett, Sensei Chante Betham, Sensei Beaty Bennett and Shihan David Bennett have been of great benefit to our competitors.
Sensei Chris is also one of the National Coaches, with Shihan David Bennett, Sensei Beaty Bennett and Sensei Chante Betham were also present as Assistant Coaches. Sensei Chris was also awarded the WKF Coach Accreditation certificate in Kata and Kumite. Congratulations Sensei!
Thank you to all the parents for making the trip to Christchuch to support the whole team.
Good luck Team, and we'll be there to support you all the way!
