NewsAnother convoy down to Wellington for the Karate New Zealand Nationals and the National Secondary Schools Championships, with most of the Jyoshinmon team staying at a nice big property on the beachfront.
Congratulations to our 12 Jyoshinmon team members, most winning at least 1 medal, though Mason Stewart was very unlucky this time. Well done to Skylar Castillo for winning Gold in both her divisions. Thanks to the training and coaching by Shihan David Bennett, Sensei Beaty Bennett, Sensei Chris Bennett and Sensei Chante Betham.
Sensei Jason Ng participated as National Referee and Judge for Karate New Zealand for both Kata and Kumite events. Senpai Jojina Scott also assisted as a Regional Kata and Kumite Judge and Referee. Sadly Senpai Sian Scott was still recovering from injury and so could not compete, though she helped as a Tournament Official.
Recovering from illness and also could not compete, Senpai Zak Scott helped as Table Staff and as assistant coach with Senpai Jose Castillo. Many thanks to the parents who supported the whole Jyoshinmon team during and after the tournament.
