NewsThere was a large team of Jyoshinmon members who participated at the Auckland Classic tournament organised by Karate Auckland. The event was held at the ASB NetBall Stadium, St John, Auckland, formatted as a Round-Robin tournament to allow competitors more mat time.
For some of our members, this was their first tournament and they did very well indeed with 24 out of our 25 competitors achieving a top 3 placing. Congratulations Team Jyoshinmon!
Sensei Jason Ng made the opening welcome as Chairperson of Karate Auckland. Sensei Jason was also one of the attending National Referees for both Kata and Kumite.
Shihan David Bennett, Sensei Beaty Bennett, Sensei Chris Bennett and Sensei Chante Betham were the Coaches, and Sensei Chris also provided tech support and training on how to use Sportdata for the Table Staff.
A very special mention to the Jyoshinmon members and Parents who helped at short notice as Tournament Officials - most of whom had learn to learn how to marshall and use Sportdata as Table Staff. Our Senior members were also enlisted as Judges for the Childrens divisions. Thank you to everyone for being amazingly supportive as always!
