Another successful tournament for our 18 Jyoshinmon team members at the new international championships held for the first time in Auckland, which was organised by Karate Auckland. The competition was very good and for a couple of members this was their first tournament. Unfortunately some of our members only just missed out on medal placings - Elijah Williams, Noah David Jones, Ma Afu Vaka and Stewart Mason.
Our coaches were Sensei Chante Betham with Shihan David Bennett, Sensei Beaty Bennett and Sensei Chris Bennett. National Referee and Judge for Karate New Zealand for both Kata and Kumite events - Sensei Jason Ng. Assisting as Marshalls - Senpai Theresa Stowers and Senpai Sevita Laufoli. Assisting as Table Officials for Sportdata entry - Senpai Jojina Scott and Sian Scott. Assistant Coaches were Senpai Zak Scott and Senpai Jose Castillo.
There was one combined Team Kata division so both our Kata teams got to compete, and well done to Jysohinmon Mini Girls for their improvement from last week's tournament.
