NewsCongratulations to our 21 Jyoshinmon team members for their gerat effort at the Auckland Open Championships! Special mention to those who won Gold in both Kata and Kumite divisions - Kaitlyne Peyroux Bob, and Ross Laufoli. Although unlucky to get a medal placing this time, much improved were - Ivan Stowe, Stewart Mason, Noah Jones, and Tyler Betham-Spencer.
Shihan David Bennett, Sensei Beaty Bennett, Sensei Chris Bennett and Sensei Chante Betham provided coaching and support. Senpai Zak Scott was not well enough to compete but was there to assist the team and help judge some of the divisions.
Participating as National Referee and Judge for Karate New Zealand, Sensei Jason Ng for both Kata and Kumite events. Senpai Jojina Scott assisted as a Table Official for Sportdata entry with Sensei Chris as IT support. Assisting as Marshalls - Senpai Theresa Stowers and Senpai Sevita after she finished competing. Sian helped at judging and at the tables. Thank you to Bruce Laufoli for taking videos of the event.
Some of our members competed in both Kata and Kumite team events for the first time but did very well. Our Kata team only had a few Saturday sessions to practice together.
