Karate New Zealand training camp for all competitors who wish to be considered for National Team selection to represent New Zealand at international tournaments this year. The camp is a 3-day event and was held at Carmel College in Auckland.
As one of the National Coaches, Sensei Chris Bennett helped to organise and run the camp which seemed to be very well received by everyone judging by the feedback, though the hot summer weather had conflicting opinions.
Instead of the usual run to the beach, most of the fitness training was on the sports field by the lake. Sensei Chris ended the camp with a session on massage, always a popular one!
Assistant coaches from Jyoshinmon were Shihan David Bennett and Sensei Beaty Bennett. There was a larger representation of our members from the Manurewa and New Lynn dojos - Kirby Wotherspoon, Zak Scott, Jose Castillo, Kyle Burton, Mexha Sane, Sevita Sabine with brothers Bruce and Ross, Mason Stewart and Juan Castillo.
This year KNZ also plans to send the national team to compete in the Australian Karate Open in Sydney from 10th to 12th April.
