Karate New Zealand Nationals and Secondary Schools Championships held at the Te Rauparaha Arena in Porirua, Wellington.
Only 6 Jyoshinmon members participated this year. Our coaches were Shihan David Bennett, Sensei Beaty Bennett, and Sensei Chris Bennett who is also on a Member of the Executive Committee of Karate New Zealand.
Day 1 - National Championships - Cadet, Juniors, Under 21-years, Seniors and Veterans
Medal placings for our black belts - for Kirby Wotherspoon and Zak Scott in Kata and Mexha Sane who won her Kumite categories. However Jose Castillo was unlucky to get a medal though the competition was very tough, but his fighting did get better. Jojina Scott helped out as a Table Official and Sian Scott as a Marshall on Mat 2.
Day 2 - National Championships below 14-years and Secondary Schools
Fantastic effort by Juan Castillo and his younger sister Skylar at their first National Championships - both winning their categories in Kata and Kumite. Mexha competed again at the National Secondary Schools and won her Kumite category.
