First Interclub Day for the year held at Manurewa dojo, and it always starts with Black Belt training. Joining in the session for the first time are three of the new Black Belts - Jose Castillo, Bruce Sabine and Ross Sabine.
Sensei Chris Bennett taught a Bo kata that would hopefully be performed when Jyoshinmon Japan come to visit Jyoshinmon New Zealand later this year. It's a pity that our 4th new Black Belt - Harry Ng - is still unable to train due to back injury. We wish him speeady recovery!
Tournament training followed with more focus on Kata and Sensei Jason Ng who upgraded to Oceania Referee standard last September, provided advice on the protocols to follow when performing Kata in a tournament.
This session is essential practice with the first tournament to take place on 8th March at the Auckland Development Tournament, which aims to attract new practitioners and to observe the more experienced competitors.
Thank you to Shihan David Bennett and Sensei Beaty Bennett for organising this event. We also appreciate the parents for taking the time to help.
