We have the pleasure to host a Kata Only Tournament for only Jyoshinmon members from our 5 Jyoshinmon Dojos and all students (except for White belts) are encouraged to participate.
This is a good introduction to competing at a Karate event for those who are new to tournaments, and good practice for those with some experience.
Registration: Through your Sensei to participate in the Tournament, Kata Seminar and Table Staff Training.
Deadline for tournament registration and payment for competitor fee: Thursday 14th August

KATA REFEREE SEMINAR
Date: Saturday 16th August 2025
Time: Beginning at 3.30 PM
Cost: $0 (free of charge)
Participants: Jyoshinmon students with Grade 2nd Kyu and above
Location: Mangere Bridge Dojo, Mountain View Primary, 81 Mountain Road (Miller Road entrance), Auckland
Registration: Through your Sensei to participate
Prior to the Interclub Kata tournament starting, there is an opportunity to learn how to Judge and Referee a Kata match. The session will cover the criteria required for judging a Kata match as well as all the rules and regulations from the World Karate Federation.
Sensei Jason Ng will be taking the Kata Seminar for students with 2nd Kyu Grade and above. He has Oceania Karate Federation qualification in Kata Referee A and in Kumite Referee A.

TOURNAMENT TABLE STAFF TRAINING
Start Time: 3.30 PM
End Time: 4.30 PM
Cost: $0 (free of charge)
Location: Mangere Bridge Dojo, Mountain View Primary, 81 Mountain Road (Miller Road entrance), Auckland
Participants: Students aged 16 years and above, also open to Parents
Registration: Through your Sensei to participate
There is also training for Tournament Staff and it will be held in conjunction with the Kata Seminar. Students aged 16 years old and above and Parents are encouraged to take this training as volunteers are always needed to help run Karate New Zealand tournaments.
Karate Auckland provides Free Lunch and there is usually a small koha for volunteers.
Three people are required to staff the Mat Table and training would be provided for the following positions:
Data Entry - entering the scores for each match into the system
Table Support - supporting the Data Entry person and the Marshall
Marshall - Gathers competitors in a category to the mat and works with the Table Support person

AUCKLAND KARATE LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIPS - ROUND 3
The third regional event of the year organised by Karate Auckland.
Date: Sunday 20th July 2025
Time: Beginning at 8:00 am
Location: Auckland Netball Centre Stadium,7 Allison Ferguson Drive, St Johns
The Jyoshinmon team was 27 strong again from 4 of the 5 Dojos, with 1 participating in their first karate tournament.
Congratulations! It was a great effort by everyone but the best part was the support of each other.
